Introduction

Penzion Resla

Penzion Resla is situated near the historical Klopačka mine building in the center of Banská Štiavnica. Klopačka (Clapper) is a two-storey Renaissance-Baroque structure built in 1681. The pension building was constructed in the 15th century and is a national cultural monument. Historical research has identified a two-floor Late Gothic core. Its current appearance is a result of developments in engineering over subsequent historical periods. In each part of its construction, the building carries visible traces of its history, whether in the Baroque and Renaissance paintings on its façade, the Gothic portal on the upper floor, a simple stone porch on the ground floor, the wood-timbered ceilings or the vaulting. The building was reconstructed and opened in 2006. One of the most beautiful views of Banská Štiavnica, a city that is one of UNESCO's world heritage sites, can be seen from the Penzion Resla.
